Veteran Reaction Force, Inc.

An Indiana Non-Profit Domestic Corporation / Public Benefit Corporation.

At Veteran Reaction Force we are the first response to Veterans in Crisis.

Crisis is a stressful time in a Veteran’s life when they experience a breakdown or disruption in their normal daily activities or family functioning. We believe that first response to a Veteran should come from a Veteran Crisis Team before Law Enforcement takes action in a crisis situation.  PTSD / TBI / Depression is a common contributing factor to the behavior with a Veteran in crisis and causes negative reactions when surrounded by civilians or Law Enforcement that do not understand what they have been through to get them in the situation they currently sit.  By responding first in a Veteran crisis situation with a trained Veteran Crisis Agent, it creates a sense of trust and brotherhood knowing you’re talking to another Veteran who may have been through a similar situation in the past.

They will be offered immediate peer support counseling face to face. They will also be offered immediate options to resolve their current crisis, including; local Veteran Assistance whether it be Government Veteran administration or local non-profit.

We have lost way too many Veterans to PTSD / TBI and Depression. All of us here at Veteran Reaction Force have lost someone to the after effects of defending their country and community. We would love nothing more than to help our Heroes recover from their crisis.

Specific Purpose

Veteran Reaction Force provides first response to Veteran crisis situations as an alternative or in combination to Law Enforcement response to a 911 dispatch to a Veteran’s current location.  These Veterans may be suffering from PTSD and/or TBI and/or depression and respond better to first response coming from another Veteran.  Veteran Reaction force would be administering mental health first aid to Veterans before Law Enforcement interacts with the Veteran in order to deescalate the situation and asses the Veterans needs before Law Enforcement. Veterans feel comfortable speaking with someone that knows where each other have been.

The specific objectives and purpose of this organization shall be:

  1. to provide in person immediate peer support counseling one on one to Veterans in crisis suffering from PTSD and/or TBI and/or depression.
  2. to liais between the Veteran in crisis and Law Enforcement / other first responders when a Veteran is crisis from the effects of suffering from PTSD and/or TBI and/or depression.
  3. to provide de-escalation services to Veteran Crisis situations requiring immediate attention to the Veteran in order to calm an altercation.
  4. to be a “big brother” of sorts to these participants.
  5. to be an alternative to Law Enforcement being the first response to a situation that a Veteran Crisis Agent could assess the situation and possibly alleviate before moving to legal action or medical treatment.
  6. to lower suicide rates amongst the combat veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD and or TBI.
  7. to lower legal action and prevent medical admittance often accrued by Veterans in crisis.
  8. to assess and provide information and options for the Veteran in crisis.
  9. to escort and maintain physical presence to the Veteran through out the crisis.
  10. to sponsor, host and/or participate in events and activities that promote PTSD and/or TBI and/or depression, Veterans, Police Officers, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Firefighters and first responder themed.

The facts are many Veterans in crisis are in need of immediate response coming from another Veteran before civilians or the authorities take legal action, or they are hospitalized. Veterans speak the same language so to speak. There is a bond that cannot be broken even if they have never met. Too many Veterans in crisis are accruing legal action, criminal record, fines, and medical inpatient hospitalizations that could have been prevented.  These men and women have served and sacrificed their minds and their body’s for their country and have accrued many mental and physical disabilities and should be treated Veteran tactfulness. Here at VRF we would love nothing more than to respond to that Veteran in crisis in order to prevent these negative outcomes to most Veteran crisis situations.  Veterans are likeminded and need a family atmosphere. VRF truly gives a sense of trust, understanding, security, and brotherhood in their time of need.

On behalf of all of us here at Veteran Reaction Force, we thank you for your time and consideration. No one gets left behind.
